Mesotherapy

What Is Mesotherapy?

You can think of hair mesotherapy as a vitamin serum specially prepared for your hair. Its basic logic is to deliver the nutrients the hair roots need to grow and strengthen healthily directly beneath the scalp — that is, where they are needed. Imagine your scalp as a soil where your hair is nourished. Over time, this soil can become barren due to factors such as genetics, stress, nutritional deficiencies, or hormonal fluctuations. This is where mesotherapy comes in — a direct fertilization process performed to revitalize this barren soil.

While orally taken vitamin pills are distributed throughout the entire body, the amount reaching the hair roots can remain limited. In mesotherapy, however, this nourishing cocktail targets the hair roots directly without any loss. This special mixture usually contains the basic building blocks that nourish the hair roots:

  • Vitamins (biotin, B-complex)
  • Minerals (zinc, selenium)
  • Amino acids
  • Circulation regulators
  • Growth factors

This way, weakened hair roots are revitalized, blood circulation increases, and the goal is for the hair to gain a healthier, stronger, and shinier structure. So in which types of hair loss does this treatment play a supportive role?

  • Genetic hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)
  • Seasonal hair loss
  • Stress-related shedding
  • Postpartum hair loss
  • Weakening due to nutritional deficiencies

Mesotherapy is an effective supportive treatment that aims to strengthen existing hair roots and activate dormant roots.

How Is Mesotherapy Performed?

The hair mesotherapy treatment is a very simple and comfortable process that proceeds step by step. Above all, a preliminary consultation is held to understand the underlying cause of your hair loss and evaluate your hair structure. As a result of this analysis, a content and treatment schedule entirely tailored to your needs is created. The treatment process is personalized and has no standard prescription.

When the treatment day comes, your scalp is prepared for the procedure by being cleaned with a special solution. Then, the nourishing cocktail prepared for you is delivered into the middle layer of the scalp in small injections with the help of very fine-tipped needles. These injections are usually made with a mesotherapy device (gun) or manually. What is felt during the procedure usually goes no further than a slight pricking sensation. The general framework of a mesotherapy session is quite simple.

  • Short procedure time (15–30 minutes)
  • Application with very fine needles
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Anesthesia usually not being needed

The treatment plan usually proceeds as an intensive initial period followed by maintenance sessions. For example, at the start, the treatment is performed in weekly or biweekly periods over 4–6 sessions. When hair loss is brought under control and the desired improvement is seen, the session intervals are gradually widened to preserve the state achieved; it can continue once a month or every few months.

What Is the Recovery Process After Mesotherapy Like?

One of the best aspects of the mesotherapy treatment is that you can return to your social or work life right after the procedure. It does not require any recovery process. After the treatment, slight pinkness on your scalp or tiny bumps at the injection points may form, but this resolves on its own within a few hours. There are a few simple points to pay attention to in the first 24–48 hours in order to increase the success of the treatment and have a smooth process:

  • Not washing the hair (first 24 hours)
  • Avoiding strenuous exercise
  • Staying away from Turkish baths, saunas, and pools
  • Not applying chemical products to the scalp
  • Protecting against direct sunlight

When you will see the results of the treatment is the most frequently asked question. Since the hair’s natural growth cycle works slowly, it is very important to be patient. The first noticeable positive development is usually a reduction in hair loss after 2–3 sessions. Your hair looking more vibrant and shiny and its quality increasing usually becomes pronounced at the end of the second month. The strengthening of weak strands and new hair growth becoming visible can take an average of 3–6 months. Remember that hair loss is usually a chronic condition, and to preserve the successful results achieved with mesotherapy, the best approach is to have follow-up sessions at intervals recommended by your physician.
