Spot Mesotherapy

What Is Spot Mesotherapy?

Spot mesotherapy is one of the most effective methods used in combating skin spots. We can compare this method to clearing weeds in a garden. Instead of just cutting the problem from the surface, a lasting solution is aimed for by intervening directly at its root. Spot mesotherapy, too, instead of applying cream to the spots on the surface of the skin, aims to solve the problem from within by reaching the middle layer (the mesoderm) where the spot forms. In this procedure, special mixtures that your skin needs and that suppress spot formation are delivered directly to the problematic area with the help of very fine needles.

This way, powerful ingredients that normally cannot pass the skin barrier and reach the depths are delivered to the target. These special cocktails prepared to lighten the skin tone and eliminate spots contain various substances determined on a personalized basis. The most frequently used of these ingredients are:

  • Vitamin C
  • Glutathione
  • Tranexamic acid
  • Arbutin
  • Salmon DNA
  • Various amino acids
  • Minerals

This method gives especially successful results for stubborn spot types such as sun-induced spots, brown dots that appear with age, color unevenness left by acne scars, and melasma. The aim of the treatment is to bring under control the excess production of the pigment called melanin, which gives the skin its color, and to give the skin a brighter, more homogeneous appearance.

How Is Spot Mesotherapy Performed?

The spot mesotherapy treatment is a very simple and comfortable procedure that proceeds step by step. The process first begins with a specialist evaluation. At this stage, your skin is analyzed, the type and depth of the spots are determined, and the most accurate treatment plan is created for you. Which vitamin and spot-lightening mixture will be used is decided during this examination.

When you come to the clinic on the day of the procedure, the area to be treated is first carefully cleaned with a special solution that purifies the skin. Then, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the area so that you feel no discomfort during the procedure, and we wait about 20–30 minutes for this cream to take effect.

Once the area is numb, the main procedure begins. The personalized cocktail prepared is delivered into the middle layer of the skin in millimetric injections with the help of very small and fine needles. These injections are made focusing especially on the areas where the spots are dense. What is felt during the procedure is usually a slight sensation like a mosquito bite and is easily tolerated by most people. This entire process is completed in a short time of about 20 minutes on average, although it varies depending on the size of the area.

A single session is not enough for spot mesotherapy to show its effect. A course is usually planned as sessions repeated 2–4 weeks apart, depending on the skin’s condition. For a full treatment, an average of 4 to 6 sessions is recommended.

What Is the Recovery Process After Spot Mesotherapy Like?

You can return to your social life or work right after spot mesotherapy, because the healing process is quite fast. After the procedure, it is normal to see slight pinkness in the treated area or barely noticeable bumps at the small needle entry points. This usually resolves on its own within a few hours.

There are a few simple but important points to pay attention to after the procedure in order to guarantee the success of the treatment and protect your skin. There are some basic rules to follow in the first 24–48 hours after the procedure:

  • Do not let water touch your face for the first 12 hours.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for one day.
  • Stay away from intense sports for two days.
  • Do not enter excessively hot environments such as Turkish baths, saunas, and steam rooms.
  • Do not expose your skin directly to the sun.
  • Do not use products such as toner that contain alcohol.

The most important rule of spot treatment is protecting against the sun. Since your skin will be sensitive during the treatment process, it is critically important to prevent UV rays from triggering pigmentation. For this reason, every time you go outside, regardless of the season, you must use an SPF 50+ sunscreen. This habit ensures not only the success of the treatment but also the longevity of the beautiful results achieved.

The effects of the treatment usually begin to become more pronounced after the second or third session. You notice that your skin tone has evened out, the color of the spots has lightened, and your skin looks brighter and more vibrant. Remember that this is a process, and for the best results, you need to be patient and attend the sessions regularly.
